Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry children that would be raised with them eventually. She learned young how to overcome of the difficulties she faced with her incredibly vivid imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she knew how to write or read. When she got her first guitar at age 8, she started to perform on local radio stations from Knoxville in Tennessee. That following year, she made her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. Even though she became an established local celebrity while at high school, her dreams were greater. In the exact day that she graduated the high school in 1964. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) and Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner needed an additional singer around the time. Parton was hired in 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Parton left the show however, in 1974 due to her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it reached Number. The first time it reached No. 1 was 1974.
